NASCAR superstar Joey Logano and Team Penske are teaming up with Shell USA to help with Hurricane Helene recovery. Hurricane Helene ravaged Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee, and Kentucky, leaving the lives of thousands devastated.
Houses, land, vehicles, and more, were destroyed and now two-time Cup Series champion Logano and Team Penske, alongside Shell USA, have stepped up their charitable efforts to help those affected. From Tuesday this week, through until the chequered flag drops in the Cup Series Championship 4 race on Nov. 10 in Phoenix, in which Logano will be competing, any donations made through JoeyLogano.com will be going to the Crossnore Communities for Children, Speedway Children’s Charities Bristol (TN) Chapter, Least of These and the Children’s Hope Alliance.
Any donations worth up to $100,000 will be matched by Shell USA, The Joey Logano Foundation, and PPG. “Any time something happens this close to home, it hits a little differently,” NASCAR star Logano said.
“We are going to invest in those communities and so many people right now are willing to help – which is incredible to see that support. We want to help where it’s going to matter the most and put together a long-term plan for not just this moment, but looking months and years down the road.
“How do we help support the families that are still going to be there? The Joey Logano Foundation has stayed true to its long-term vision to help those that need a helping hand, and we’re extremely grateful to have the support of partners like Shell and Team Penske who have aided in bringing this program to life over the last few weeks.”
Additionally, at this weekend’s Xfinity 500 race at Martinsville, the final race of Round 3 of the Cup Series playoffs, Logano will drive in a special Partners Powering Hurricane Recovery livery. “Our team is committed to continuing to support those whose lives have so drastically changed in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene,” Team Penske President Tim Cindric said.
“Many of us call North Carolina home, and we want to be there for those that are working so hard to restore the basics of their day-to-day lives. We are proud to partner with Shell USA and the Joey Logano Foundation on this initiative as we continue to strive to raise awareness for this ongoing need.”
Further efforts from Logano and Co. include $250,000 in financial support, and a partnership with JLF saw the donation of a Ford Explorer to Crossnore Communities for Children to replace one damaged in Hurricane Helene.
Logano has already been joined in the Championship 4 race by regular-season champion Tyler Reddick. The 23XI Racing driver won at Homestead-Miami last weekend, following on from Logano’s victory in Las Vegas a week prior.
Logano will not be taking any unnecessary risks this weekend in Virginia. “A lot of things, you would maybe want to try these things for the racetrack because you have no risk if it goes bad. Typically in this race, if you’re in the playoffs, it’s very very important and you can’t afford to take risks.” Logano said.
“You wouldn’t take a lot of risks because unless you are backed up against the wall and got nothing to lose, you would say, ‘Hey, I just need a solid top five out of this, or we can kind of go for all or nothing, and we can do that kind of category throughout the weekend,’” he added.
